Federal campaign finance data (FEC)

Bellwether displays contributor and committee information drawn from reports and statements filed with the Federal Election Commission. Federal law restricts how that information may be used: under 52 U.S.C. § 30111(a)(4) and 11 C.F.R. § 104.15, information copied or otherwise obtained from FEC reports may not be sold or used to solicit contributions, and may not be used for any commercial purpose.

Consistent with that restriction, this data is used inside Bellwether only for internal campaign research, targeting, and voter contact by authorized campaign staff and volunteers. It is not sold, rented, or shared with any third party, and it is not used to solicit contributions from the individual donors it identifies.

New York State Board of Elections data

Campaign finance and voter data sourced from the NY State Board of Elections is held to the same internal-use-only standard: research and voter contact for this campaign, never resale, and never solicitation of the individuals the data identifies.
